European Union Offers 35,000 Young People Free Train Tours of Europe Under "DiscoverEU" Initiative

The European Union Commission has launched an exciting opportunity for 35,000 young people, including citizens of the Republic of Turkey, through its "DiscoverEU" program, offering free train tours across Europe. According to BBC Turkish, eligible participants will have the chance to explore various European cities by train for up to 30 days, from July 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. Applications will close on April 30, at 13:00 CET.

Those selected for the tour will not only travel for free but also receive a discount card providing over 40,000 reductions on public transportation, cultural events, accommodation, dining, sports, and more in the countries they visit. This initiative is open to individuals born between July 1, 2005, and June 30, 2006, from EU member states, Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, and Serbia.

Applications must be submitted through the European Youth Portal, where applicants will need to answer a quiz consisting of six questions about the EU. Those who pass the quiz will enter a pool from which 35,000 lucky winners will be selected for the free train journey.

Participants can travel solo or choose to bring along up to four friends who also meet the eligibility criteria. This unique program is designed to foster a deeper understanding of European culture and connectivity among its youth, enhancing their sense of European identity and solidarity through immersive travel experiences.
